We thought the same but decided to write it anyway, because despite our own cynicism, we’re still idealists and lovers at heart who really believe what you’re about to read.

The forest for the trees

Despite being the easiest time in history to start a new business with things like Stripe and Shopify, it still feels as difficult as ever. Whether because of the paradox of choice or founder tunnel vision – starting, scaling, selling a business and/or answering to shareholders is still no small feat. 

At every stage of growth, it becomes increasingly more difficult to see the forest for the trees. Things that were once inconsequential like process become big. Metrics, hiring, board decks, and CAC overwhelm the senses. Everything becomes important. The once clear forest, becomes a cacophony of trees.

What leaders and founders need most is in short supply: perspective. Perspective is not simply an outsider viewpoint but the careful dance between art, science, and intuition.

The ability to marry a fast moving, everchanging world with product value and business needs.

Perspective is also like successful businesses and entrepreneurs in that it’s an outlier. It doesn’t come easy or often, but when it does, it’s game-changing. Perspective catalzyes. It brings momentum. It shows the next step. Perspective unlocks hidden value.

So why us, and why now?

We didn’t set out to build a consultancy. In fact, we started as builders and founders ourselves.

We spent time building products, raising money, talking to customers, failing, and getting right back up.

We especially didn’t plan on launching a consultancy post a global pandemic, a financial crisis and the biggest tech bust of the last decade, but we honestly couldn’t have found a better time. 

The state of the world presents the perfect opportunity for founders and leaders to re-evaluate and re-prioritize. What’s signal? What’s noise?

We’re here to ask the hard questions. The questions that are the difference between surviving and truly thriving.

How it began

From taking apart computers and putting them back together as a youthful hobby (Amanda) to studying the language of ancient texts (David), we've had a long history of digging, questioning, taking a part, and putting together anew.

Collectively, over the last 10 years we’ve worked on 50+ brands across messaging, marketing and product. Our approach is not traditional – it’s challenging, transformative, and invigorating.
